Church,
Yesterday Pastor was preaching about the confidence that Paul had. That confidence was not because of himself, but because of the Holy Spirit living within him. We often forget that as believers, we have the same Holy Spirit living within us. We are not an exception, no matter how long our list of excuses is. Pastor also mentioned that we need to come to God as a child. Sometimes our hearts can become hard, even as believers; we've had our hearts broken, our expectations unfulfilled, seemingly let down. But a child doesn't have all that baggage, that bitterness, and that list of reasons to doubt. If we tell them something, they trust us, and don't let us forget it! That's what God wants from us. We can call on God, trusting in what He says. We are made new in Christ, so we should have new thoughts!
Also, the way we receive our salvation is a gift. For me, it's a simple concept, but I often catch myself thinking about how what I do affects things. Yes, we should do things with excellence, but God is perfect, His message is perfect, no matter how flawed we are. Remember the thief on the cross. It's faith in Christ, and His perfect atonement for us.
