Hey River Family,

It is hard to believe that Easter Sunday is almost upon us. There is something special about the Spring time. We are getting out of the dark dreary winter months (that get a little out of control here in Upstate NY) and we are looking for signs of new life and change in the air. We see daffodils pushing up through the cold ground, we hear robins singing their song of return, and a warmth in the breeze. These are signs pointing to change and new life. The resurrection of Jesus is very much like this springing up season. He went through the dark season of death and being buried in the ground and rose again on the 3rd day. He talked about this mystery to his disciples by likening this process to being a seed. He talked about himself being only one seed but if it dies and is planted into the ground it produces many seeds. Jesus understood that he must go to the Father and that his ministry on Earth was temporary in the flesh as he was limited by time and space but he knew that if he died for us and redeemed his church that upon his resurrection and ascension he would be able to send the Holy Spirit to empower and raise up many seeds. It was at Pentecost that the wind of the Holy Spirit blew those seeds throughout the four corners of the world.

John 12:24 NLT "24 I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives."
