Hey River!

A word that keeps getting pressed into my heart ever since worship this past Sunday is "reverence". Psalm 5:7 reads like this: "But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple."  It's only by His love that we can ever hope to enter into His holy presence.

My prayer is that in these final weeks of 2024 we are renewed with awe and wonder of who Jesus is—that we wonder how the One who is seated on the throne for all eternity chose a manger over a palace to reach us; that we are awed by both the grandeur of His majesty and the depths of His love for us (both of which are beyond understanding, beyond comprehension). I pray that from the depths of our souls we bow before the only One who deserves to puff up His chest but instead lowered His head for us, trading a crown of gold for a crown of thorns.  Thank You, Lord Jesus, for Your wonderful, precious life on Earth so we can sit beside You for eternity.  Thank You, Lord Jesus, for loving us so deeply even though we could never do anything to deserve it.  Thank You, Jesus, that without You we are nothing, but in Your hands we are children deeply, incredibly loved by our Heavenly Father. Let us bow in reverence of Your love that desires our hearts and our affections so intensely that You surrendered everything for us so we could stand in Your presence. Overwhelm our hearts with the ever-expanding reality of who You are!
