Hey River church! As we have been learning on Sundays with pastor's series on "Lost in Translation," we have been translated from darkness to light and into a new kingdom. Paul put it this way in Ephesians 5:8 "For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light." What does it mean to be children of the light? I believe a good portion of what this means is living out God's Word in our lives daily. Psalm 119:105 states that the Word of God is a lamp unto our feet and light unto our path. When we live out the Word in deed and action we shine the light of the Word in a dark world. The light can be a sign of hope like a lighthouse in the distance on a stormy sea but it can also be offensive to some that dwell in darkness and have not been exposed to the truth of the word. As John stated in his Gospel, And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it (John 1:5). The Bible also states that the Gospel is foolishness to those that are perishing or are in darkness. Don't be surprised if when you show good works before people that some are offended or don't receive it as kindness or goodness. Jesus said they are not offended at you but me. He is the light shining through you. So, we have to stand and live out our Christian life as cities on a hill despite what people think or say. We must be translated into children of light and shine ever more as we see the days getting darker.
