Hey Church,

As we approach Passover and Easter I am reminded of the blood that Jesus spilled for our sins and the work of the cross. As I read about what my savior has done for me I am continuously in awe of the choice that he made to endure the cross. Maybe we would choose this for someone we loved but Jesus chose this for the whole world including those that hated him and mocked him. Romans 5:7-10 says, "7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! 10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!"

Jesus knew full well the price that he would have to pay. This is probably why he sweat drops of blood in the garden as his soul was vexed in prayer and he was crushed under the weight of this decision. The Bible tells us that Jesus was not only the perfect lamb sacrifice but He was also the High Priest offering up himself as sacrifice. He fit both roles and prophecies all in one. The Levitical priesthood had to offer up sacrifices for their own sins before offering for anyone else. Jesus didn't have to do this because he was a higher priesthood than the Levitical one.

Hebrews 7:26-28 "26 Such a high priest truly meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. 27 Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself. 28 For the law appoints as high priests men in all their weakness; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever."

Thank you, Jesus, for the blood! The perfect blood that washes away our sins and sprinkles us clean- white as snow.
