Hey Church,

Halloween is around the corner, but like Pastor mentioned Sunday, we don't need to worry about spooky monsters, we already have something called real life. Life gives us plenty to keep our minds occupied in fear, and on top of that we have an enemy who wants nothing more than to see us fail, and give in. But we play an important role in this. Jesus tells us in Matthew 6 (paraphrasing) to not worry about anything, but to understand that the God who sits on the throne loves us unconditionally and will take care of us. I was also moved at the contrast between light and dark that Pastor spoke about. He said we don't always struggle with the dark, we struggle with the light. As we become sanctified over time, our soul and our flesh need to mature in Christ, and to become aligned with Him. They contradict the perfection of God and our flesh just wants to cling to our old self. I'm glad God doesn't just leave us where he found us. He wants us to change, dying to ourselves daily and always getting better. But we let the struggles in our lives weigh us down and then the fear and doubt set in and make us question things. We think that we're the exception. But that is simply not true. Of course we make mistakes, but can rest assured knowing that no matter what, God is full of mercy and grace, and his love is unconditional. God takes the death and destruction that we create and gives us new life. He gives us a new heart and new opportunities. He's proven that when he shed His blood on the cross. And that blood is our proof that our debt is paid in full and that we are now able to partake in His beautiful plan in our lives.
