Hey River!
In this last week I feel like this theme of love, grace, and mercy has been pressed into me, over and over. The mistakes I made this week, everything that felt out of my hands, in moments of failure I felt this nudge: "Let Me cover it." Over and over, as waves of pressure (sometimes self-inflicted) weighed on me, I felt Him lift a little off: "Let My grace cover it." This book I've been reading brought two verses to my attention that are so well known, but I don't think I've ever read them together:
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." (Mat. 6:34)
"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness." (Lam. 3:22-23)
And here we find one of those precious truths: He knows every trouble of every tomorrow, and He loves us so deeply, so tenderly that He already sent brand new mercy (exactly the dose we need) for each day. Now THAT is something worth praising about.
As we learn about God as our good shepherd, we have to remember that the very trail He leads us down has already been covered by Him and His tender love for us. His love, His grace, His mercy has already covered all my tomorrows. My path forward, no matter the missteps, twists or turns, has seen the goodness of His hand before my foot will ever touch it. His grace and mercy will find you, to give you exactly the breath you need to take that next step. Let Him cover you, and feel the weight start to ease off.
Keep your heart open, He's going to catch you!
